Agumbe is a serene rainforest village in Thirthahalli taluk, Shivamogga district, Karnataka. Known as the “Cherrapunji of South India” for its heavy monsoon rainfall, it is famous for its misty hills, evergreen forests, waterfalls, and the iconic Agumbe Sunset Point. Agumbe also houses the Agumbe Rainforest Research Station (ARRS), dedicated to king cobra conservation and rainforest ecology research.
Best Season to Visit
November to February – clear sunsets, cool weather.
June to September – heavy monsoon, lush greenery, waterfalls in full flow (carry rain gear).
