The Sacred Land of Akka Mahadevi, Poet-Saint of Vachanas.
About Us
Udutadi, a historic village in Shikaripura taluk, Shivamogga district, is renowned as the birthplace of Akka Mahadevi (12th century) – one of the greatest Veerashaiva poet-saints of the Vachana movement.
Akka Mahadevi, remembered for her deep devotion to Lord Shiva in the form of Chenna Mallikarjuna, is celebrated for her spiritual poetry (Vachanas) and her fearless path of renunciation.
Udutadi also once served as a fortified town under the Kalachuri dynasty. Today, it is a cultural pilgrimage site, featuring the Akka Mahadevi Temple, a memorial structure, and remnants of the historic Udutadi Fort.
