Keladi Rameshwara Temple

Where History, Devotion, and Stone Carvings Meet.

About Us

The Keladi Rameshwara Temple, located in Keladi village, Sagara taluk, Shivamogga district, is an important historical and religious monument built in the 16th century by the rulers of the Keladi Nayaka dynasty.
The temple complex is dedicated mainly to Lord Rameshwara (Shiva), but it also houses shrines for Parvathi and Veerabhadra, showcasing the religious inclusiveness of the period. The temple architecture reflects a blend of Dravidian and Hoysala styles, with richly carved stone pillars, ornate wooden ceilings, and detailed iconography.
Keladi was once the capital of the Keladi Nayakas, known for rulers like Keladi Chennamma, remembered for her bravery and resistance against the Mughal empire. The temple stands as a reminder of the region’s cultural and political significance.
